Just like boards, Brendon was very specific about what he needed for a paddle for The Long Paddle. We are pleased to say after testing out many different paddles Blackfish Paddles have provided Brendon with paddled he needs for the trip.

Drybags are needed for kit on and off the water, Brendon will have one with him at all times whilst on the board to carry his safety equipment, extra layers and food/water. It is great to have the Fatstick Boards team supporting the paddle and providing the dry bags needed.

A PFD is vital for safe passage on each paddle session, especially if lone paddling. We are in very safe hands with Baltic Lifejackets on board to provide the Personal flotation devices needed for both Brendon and the crew.

"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" The same could be said for paddling around mainland Britain with no GPS to track you, GPS devices are needed for safety and confirmation of route is essential for any WR attempt. And we are please to have Geo Tracks providing us with GPS units for tracking both Brendon and the land crew.

With The Long Paddle taking place over the summer a big worry for Brendon whilst on the water is about protecting him from the sun and the dangerous UV rays. We are super excited to have Lifejacket Skin Protection supporting us and providing their amazing product range to keep Brendon and the crew safe!

Now this is a vital piece of kit but something we are all hoping Brendon will not have to use. YAK/Crewsaver have provided Brendon with a personal location device(PLD) that he would active in an emergency if he needed the emergency services to locate him.

Safe Response have provided us with absolutely vital equipment, including first aid kits, reflective stickers for Brendon's board (for night paddling) and light up dashboard signage for the support vans. Safety for the night paddles is a tricky prospect but a huge thank you to Optics Warehouse & Night Vision Warehouse for loaning us two HIK Micro 35mm Thermal Monocular’s to assist the crew in keeping taps on Brendon as he paddles at night.

A big worry for the support crew is power, how can we charge Brendons GPS and safety equipment when he gets off the water and how can we power all we need for living on the road. Power 2Go have been a fantastic support in providing us two power supply units and accessories for the trip.
